The Ministry of Cultural Development (Tauranga Vananga) proudly hosted the Air New Zealand Cook Islands Tourism Industry Council Awards 2025 at the Domes last night, bringing together leaders and innovators from across the tourism sector to celebrate excellence and commitment to service.

As part of the evening, the Ministry was honoured to sponsor and present the prestigious Outstanding Kia Orana Spirit Award, which recognises individuals and organisations that best embody the warmth, respect, and care at the heart of Cook Islands hospitality. This year’s award was presented to Pacific Resort in recognition of their exceptional commitment to upholding and sharing the true essence of our culture and values.

In congratulating the recipient, the Ministry acknowledged Pacific Resort’s leadership in ensuring that every guest experience reflects the spirit of Kia Orana, demonstrating that tourism success can thrive when rooted in cultural integrity. The Ministry’s involvement in the awards reflects its wider mission to place culture at the centre of Cook Islands tourism, inspiring operators across the industry to embrace and share the richness of Cook Islands Māori traditions while fostering sustainable, community-focused growth.

The Ministry of Cultural Development thanks CITIC, Air New Zealand, sponsors, and participants for their role in making this year’s awards a success, and looks forward to continuing its work in celebrating and strengthening the cultural foundations of our tourism industry.
