Te Mire Ura Nui 2025
International Dancer of the Year
The Ministry of Cultural Development proudly presents Te Mire Ura Nui 2025, International Dancer of the Year, the most prestigious dance competition in the Cook Islands. Join us at the National Auditorium on Friday 17 October 2025 as we honor the spirit of our ancestors and celebrate the brilliance of today’s dancers.
Te Mire Ura Nui is not only a test of skill, it is a sacred celebration of identity. Every beat of the drum, every sway of the hips, every chant and costume tells the story of our people. From the grace of the slow ura, to the freedom of the Ura Penu, and the explosive energy of the fast beat, this competition is the living heartbeat of the Cook Islands.
Dancers from across our Ipukarea and around the world come home to compete, carrying with them the pride of their families, villages, and communities. They are more than contestants, they are cultural bearers, weaving the knowledge of generations into each performance.
Te Mire Ura Nui, International Dancer of the Year 2025 is a night of passion, resilience, and artistry. It is where tradition meets innovation, where the strength of our heritage shines brightest, and where the future of our culture is carried forward with pride.
